Dr Masina offers the following general obstetric services:
Obstetric ultrasound
An ultrasound is a standard procedure used during an obstetric ultrasound. It produces 2-dimensional images of what is happening inside the mother's and baby’s bodies during pregnancy. A baby’s growth, gestation, heartbeat, size and development can all be seen clearly using an ultrasound. The position of the baby can also be clearly seen. Depending on how the baby is positioned, different angles may be seen.
Prenatal screening
Prenatal screening tests can identify whether your baby is less likely to have certain birth defects, many of which are genetic disorders. These tests include a specific type of ultrasound, blood tests, and prenatal cell-free DNA screening. Dr Masina usually offers prenatal screenings during the first or second trimester. Screening tests can't make a definitive diagnosis; however, if results indicate an increased risk for a genetic disorder, we can discuss your options for a diagnostic test to confirm the diagnosis.
Antenatal care
During your pregnancy, you will have check-ups called antenatal check-ups. Antenatal visits are appointments during your pregnancy that help keep you and your baby healthy during pregnancy. Even if you're feeling healthy and your pregnancy is going smoothly, and you’re feeling healthy, it’s still important for you to attend all your appointments to identify any potential risks, so they can be reduced or prevented.
